About Where to stay in Valencia: the back story

Valencia’s best hotels gather in three places. In Ciutat Vella, palaces and mansions around the cathedral and the Mercado Central have become small luxury hotels, among them Palacio Vallier and Caro. Across the Turia Garden, The Westin Valencia occupies a modernist building by the gardens, and the grand hotels of the Alameda are a walk from the City of Arts and Sciences. And on the beach at Las Arenas, the Balneario Las Arenas has its own spa beside the sea.

The old town

MYR Hotel Palacio Vallier, on Plaza Manises, is a 19th-century mansion where, during the works, the remains of a Roman perfumery were found (Visit Valencia). Caro Hotel stands on Calle Almirante, near the cathedral; SH Inglés faces the Ceramics Museum’s palace.

By the Turia

The Westin Valencia, on Amadeo de Saboya, occupies a modernist building with a garden courtyard. Hospes Palau de la Mar and SH Valencia Palace are close to the Turia and the Alameda.

Stay in the old town for walking, by the beach for summer.

On the beach

Hotel Las Arenas Balneario Resort faces the sand at Las Arenas, with its own spa. Hotel Neptuno and the small Hotel Miramar are on the same seafront.

Good value

Hostels in the old town and Ruzafa, and small hotels such as Ad Hoc Carmen, keep a stay in the centre affordable.

Our advice: in March, during Las Fallas, book months ahead and expect noise in the old town until late.
